Linda Skalenda's bio

Born and raised in Victoria, Linda Skalenda started her art education early with youth art lessons at The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. They proved to be a great inspiration and has been drawing and creative in many ways since. Her interests in colour and design lead her into a career of interior decorating. Working with clients on choosing colour she helped create the perfect living environment. In that time she had a need to create in a personal way and started to explore and express her feelings and mood through paint on canvases.

Linda Skalenda’s painting study came mostly from her own efforts painting continuously.Starting with Watercolours and exploring and studying pastels, acrylic and oils also through work shops.
In her own words "I want to thank several esteemed Artists for sharing their knowledge through work shops, in each painting you learn something new for the next”

Linda Skalenda worked in and ran her successful studio/ gallery for five years two in Nanaimo, BC and three in Qualicum Beach, BC.
Linda now paints in her home studio near the beach on Vancouver Island for several Galleries and Juried fine Art Shows.
BRITISH COLUMBIA MAGAZINE has just invited her to sell Art Cards and Prints though their online store.

She gathers inspiration for her colourful canvases by sketching or taking photographs while hiking, kayaking and travelling with her husband. Whether it’s her whimsical animals or her sensitive land or seascapes, the passion and use of exciting, vibrant colours that she puts onto her canvases make you stop in your tracks to take a second look.

Linda has garnered "Awards of Excellence”, "Honorable Mentions” and the all important "People’s Choice” awards in many Federation of Canadian Artists and selected juried fine art shows. Her works are now in collections across Canada, the United States, Ireland and the UK.
